Leica SL Test Drive

I had an opportunity to try out a Leica SL for 24 hours from the Bellevue Leica store.  The SL body is large and heavy but the design is very sleek and it has a nice grip and finish.  The auto-focus is incredibly fast and responsive.  I especially enjoyed the focus peaking feature when coupled with a manual M-lens. The 'kit lens' is the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mm lens.  It's also large, bulky and heavy but it's incredibly sharp.  After a few minutes of using this system, the weight and size felt very natural and comfortable. The overall experience of shooting with the SL was not unlike a traditional DSLR but what sets this Leica system apart is its accurate color rendition, image quality and the refined simplicity of the camera design.  Here are some examples of images taken in Seattle, Washington at the Shilshole Bay Marina, the Georgetown Steam Plant, Green Lake and of our cat, Georgina.
